Poetry Thursday

This poem was inspired by listening to other women on a daily basis talk about other women's weight.

Untitled

Did you see what she was wearing?
How could she?
She’s fat.

Doesn’t she know that her
cellulite ripples are showing
through her pants?

It’s gross
Who does she think she is.
A beauty queen?
Is she insane?
She’s fat.

No one wants to
look at her in skin tight pants.
Doesn’t she care
that she’s fat?

Crying she listens
from the other side
of the bathroom stall

waiting,
hoping
these women who

are strangers
can’t hear her misery
and frustration

at the fact that she
has no self esteem,
no self love
and cannot afford to
buy a decent pair
of pants.

This was heart wrenching because my daughter is feeling this pain. It even comes from people she loves.
"can’t hear her misery
and frustration

at the fact that she
has no self esteem,
no self love"

This was said perfectly. Thank you!

Isn't it odd that some people would take away a person's simple right to exist.....Based on their crude opinions....

I was going to suggest that the last stanza was un nec...until I got to the last line and loved this line almost the most

A decent pair of pants....so simple, yet carring the weight of the world, and it's judgement, in its pockets....

well done, you.

Ouch. That is really awful. But common. You just wrote about what life was like for my friend in highschool.
